How does renewable energy reduce global warming?

Renewable energy plays a crucial role in reducing global warming by mitigating the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) that contribute to climate change. Here's how renewable energy can help:

1. Reduction in fossil fuel use: Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass do not rely on the combustion of fossil fuels to generate electricity. By replacing fossil fuel-based power plants with renewable energy sources, we can significantly reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other GHGs released into the atmosphere.

2. Lower carbon emissions: Renewable energy technologies have lower or zero carbon emissions during electricity generation. Solar and wind power, for example, produce electricity without any direct emissions of CO2 or other pollutants. Even biomass and geothermal energy, which may emit some CO2 during the production process, generally result in significantly lower emissions compared to fossil fuels.

Investments in renewable energy infrastructure lead to the establishment of new industries, the expansion of existing ones, and the creation of job opportunities in manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance.
